I’m filing this one under small victories. I was taking a slashdot hiatus as I was finishing my thesis proposal, and when you leave CMU they deactivate your email account after a time. Having forgotten my account password and unable to reset it via email, I had written off my four-digit UID and eponymous handle. It bugged me every time I visited. So yesterday, on a whim, I spent fifteen minutes brushing off dusty old password schemes, and finally found myself logged in.
The amount of relief I felt at rescuing my account is a reward in of itself, an affirmation that I’m still the nerd I’ve always been.
